How does it work?
Step 1. Read through our list of accepted items here to get an idea of the kinds of items we have available.
- We operate on a first-come, first-serve basis. Given our limited space and operational capacity, we cannot reserve items or save them. If, upon arriving, we do not have what you are looking for, you can try a different site or revisit at a later time. Our inventory is constantly changing.

Step 2. Find a ReCARES location.
- ReCARES Oakland is open Fridays, 12 PM-4 PM
- ReCARES SF is open Thursdays, 10 AM-3 PM
- ReCARES Marin is open Wednesdays, 11 AM-2 PM
Step 3. Arrive and wait for a volunteer to help you.
- You do not need an appointment.
- If you want to save time, come with a list of what you are looking for.
- You do not need to bring insurance or ID, but we will ask you to sign a liability waiver. The waiver indicates that you understand the following:
- That we are not providing medical advice nor should our recommendations be thought of as a substitute for medical advice.
- That we cannot certify or guarantee the quality or condition of anything we distribute. Everything we receive is donated, and while we do our best to inspect for quality, we cannot be held responsible for faulty or damaged items.
